The Film Dump is 6 months old today!!! That means I have watched a total of 77 films in 6 months and wrote a review for each one. Actually I’ve seen 78 but I couldn’t decide if Chanbara Striptease was really a film or not and so I ignored it. As you should to. Anyway, I said I’d do a Stats Dump post after 6 months so here it is. Click the link if you’re the sort of boring sod that likes statistics!
Look! It’s Harry Potter not looking like Harry Potter! That’s Daniel Radcliffe in a Horror film called The Woman In Black which I believe is released next year. The trailer is featured in this weeks Trailer Park along with Puncture, a Chris Evans starring legal drama about a junkie lawyer fighting a legal battle for medical peoples. Also I shall have another retro trailer featuring an actor who branched out in their career much like Evans and Radcliffe appear to be.
It’s finally here! Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2! The last Harry Potter film I ever have to write a review for. I’m not saying I dislike the series, some of the films (including this one) are actually pretty enjoyable. I’m just glad that after watching and reviewing 8 similar films in a row I will be able to leave this behind me now. I’m gonna go all arthouse on you guys after this I promise. Anyway, It’s Potter time!
Almost there folks. We’re at the penultimate part of the Harry Potter saga. Battle lines have been drawn and Voldemort is ready to kick some serious wizardly arse. Harry knows about the Horcruxes and is intent on finding and destroying them all so he can defeat The Dark Lord. What could possibly stand in his way?… other than the forces of evil of course.
It’s Harry Potter part 6 time! Here’s the one I actually knew stuff about before hand because I was fortunate enough to work on the game that was based on this film. The game was dull, uninspired and prone to a hell of a lot of fetch quests. Is the film at all like that? Nearly, but not quite. It certainly has a lot less fetch quests in it. On with the review.
What’s this? Two Harry Potter movie reviews in one day? Have I gone mad? Can I ask four questions in a row? The answer to all those questions is “yes”. Even the first one. See I had time to kill and I figured if I can review another Potter film today I’ll be able to get a day off from the series on Wednesday. I can’t pass that up. So here we are at The Ord4er Of The Phoenix. It’s time for battle lines to be drawn, for truths to be uncovered, and most importantly, for Luna Lovegood to finally show up.
We’re at the fourth installment of the Harry Potter films now and as is the rule in all storytelling sagas made by people who once saw Empire Strikes Back the middle part is the dark part. Goblet Of Fire is this series’ Empire Strikes Back. It’s the point where the Snitch hits the fan and the Voldemort’s evil plans start to truly come into being. Hopefully that’s not spoiling too much. If you don’t want to be spoiled though read with caution! I have a gripe with this film that will require major spoilers for the ending. I’ll save that paragraph until as late as possible though. If you aren’t scared of spoilers then click the jump to read on.
For some reason I have trouble typing Azkaban. Something about it is wrong. Maybe it’s the fact that the Z follows the A. Something that nearly never happens in English writing. Makes me think Azkaban is a far off place very different from our own. I don’t know if it is though because we never see it in this film. It’s a prison of some kind. One that characters talk about with a hint of fear. Good thing there’s big old Dementor things floating about to keep people scared instead of some unseen prison.
Yesterday I reviewed Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone which I concluded was a pretty average film that didn’t leave much of an impression or a desire to see more. But see more I have. Today I have watched The Chamber Of Secrets for the first time. All I knew about this one before was that it involved some big ruddy snake and a flying car. Now I know that it also involves a lot of scenes taking place in the girls toilets. On with the show then…
