The Film Dump’s Apparently Annual Fireworks Display!!!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 84,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Click here to see the complete report.

I have no idea what this is all about. Something to do with the stats and posts I made this year. Still, kinda neat. Enjoy. Next film review coming up will be Chapter 4 of the Tarantino season, review No.209: Jackie Brown. This will likely be posted tomorrow.

100,000 Views And Counting!

Well, The Film Dump has just gone past 100,000 total views, which is pretty much mind boggling. I started this blog on a whim back in April last year. I had been told many times over the years that people came to me when looking for advice on what film to watch and then one day I was watching Mortal Kombat… for some reason… and just decided that I should write a review for it. I had this WordPress account from back when I had an MSN Space (remember those?) and so I set about learning just how to use this thing. 1 year 8 months(ish) and 199 reviews later (50/50 review coming tonight!) the site has passed 100,000 views. Thanks to everyone that’s ever viewed this blog, clicked the like button, commented, subscribed or even just posted some poorly spelled spam. You reading these, occasionally/mostly, weakly written reviews has helped keep me busy in my evenings and given me somewhat of a hobby. Special thanks to people such as Paul Acevedo who’s always encouraging me and correcting my grammar (He writes for Co-Optimus BTW) and Ben who has his own blog called Views From The Sofa and has been one of my most frequent comment writers/likers. also big thanks to Luke who claims he still reads the reviews everyday that a new review is posted on his way into work. The next step for this blog to take is to start pulling in serious viewership. The sort that will allow me to earn a little extra money in ads (which I still haven’t earned enough for a payment from yet) which I can then spend on a few special things. I was thinking more hard to source films, maybe equipment to get making a short film with and so on. After the link I’m gonna post some boring stats. Feel free to read them, or not. Here’s to making it to 200,000!!!

I’m still not sure why I called it The Film Dump.

I’ve Started A New Blog!!!

So I’ve started a new gaming based blog called, imaginatively enough, The Games Dump! It won’t be updated as often as The Film Dump is but the intention is for me to create some gaming based video content for ya’ll to view. We’ll see how this goes because it’s likely to consume a huge amount of time making these videos up. I’ll also be posting the odd written review of any games I manage to complete, which will not be that often because I rarely do. Remember to subscribe to it if you feel like seeing what random nonsense I’ll be posting on there. You can view The Games Dump’s first post by following the link RIGHT HERE!!!! There’s also a Youtube channel made to service both The Games Dump and future video posts for The Film Dump itself. You can visit the Youtube page RIGHT HERE!!!

Something SUPER This Way Comes.

Yep, that’s a signed shooting script for James Gunn’s most excellent SUPER I have there. I won it on a Facebook competition back in May but somewhere along the way it got lost in the post. Contacted James a while back and being the jam up guy he is (As they would have said in the 1940s) he must have worked some magic and got a copy out to me. Arrived today. Well yesterday really. I heard someone knocking at the door at 9AM but ignored it because I was trying to sleep. No I’m not lazy. It was my day off work and I had been up watching the WWE Money In The Bank PPV until 4AM. Anyway, it’s signed by some pretty cool dudes such as James Gunn himself, Liv Tyler, Andre Royo (from The Wire), the legend that is Michael Rooker, Lloyd Friggin’ Kaufman and Toxie!!! There’s many many more too, as you can see, many of which I can’t make out… but that’s what autographs are like. I still can’t figure out what Ron Perlman wrote on the front of my Hellboy DVD years ago. Big thanks to Mr James Gunn for getting this to me. Pretty much the coolest thing I own.

Help me identify all the autographs.

Review No.150 Coming Soon!… I hope.

A dilemma is afoot…

I am going to blame this on the rubbish British postmen refusing to deliver in the rain.

The List…

This is The List…

What is The List? Well I have a knack for building up a backlog of films to be watched and I’d quite like to have a system where I can tell you guys what I have planned to be reviewed in the future. So I thought I’d compile a list of films that I have ready to watch that I just haven’t go to yet. Films I have on the plan for the near future. Some are films I got in a boxed set and never got through. Some are films from my Lovefilm that have arrived, or even just films I intend to see in the cinema. Some will be films I have planned for future themed weeks. The idea is that I log them in this post, make it a sticky post, and then add and delete as I go along. This list will serve as a constant reminder to me also to get around to watching various stuff. It’s also gonna be a nightmare for me when I get that James Bond Blu-Ray set and have to add 22 films. If you see a film on there that you insist I should watch then nag me about it. If there’s something you’d like me to review then tell me and I might add it.

THE LIST

Alien 3
Alien Resurrection (ugh)
Barton Fink
Brothers And Sisters Of The Toda Family
Fantastic Mr Fox
Troll

OK, lets see how I get on with this.

EDIT Decided that I didn’t like not having a review image right at the top of the blog when you reach the homepage so from now on The List will be a clickable link at the top of the page above The Film Dump’s blog banner.

Let Us Compile A Top (And Bottom) 5 List!

Seeing as it is The Film Dump’s first ever birthday today I thought I’d put together two fun little top fives. The first will be a top 5 of my favourite films that I have watched over the last year. The other will be the absolute worst films I have watched over this last year. I’ll be honest, thanks to my love of a good ran I’ve probably seen more bad films over this last year than I normally would have. Obviously it’s all in the pursuit of providing some form of entertainment for anyone that happens to stumble across this blog whilst searching for pictures of Chris Evans with his shirt off. So, click the link for the best & worst of The Film Dump’s first year!

Maybe I should make a mixtape too

Filmdump.wordpress.com Is Now FilmDump.com!!

Nope, doesn’t mean much at all. The url is now Filmdump.com rather than that previous longer url. But I own this now and that means I’ll be able to use it later if I need. Or sell the url to Google if for some reason they need it. My asking price is $1 Billion. Hopefully this doesn’t screw up the RSS feed on my facebook page. Literally the one thing I’m concerned about.

Here’s 4 Minutes Of John Carter (Of Mars)

Sorry, wrong John Carter. Too late now. Can’t go changing the pic now I’ve clicked the button. Anyway, here’s 4 minutes of upcoming Disney sci-fi epic John Carter (Of Mars). I’m convinced this is at least going to be an enjoyable action romp and hopefully people will give it a chance before they write it off as some typical Avatar type film. It deserves better than that. This is a film that has been in and out of production for decades, based on a new 100 year old book. I get the vibe that this will succeed via word of mouth more than anything. So click the link for a 4 minute preview of the film. Hopefully Disney put a few more out like this over the next couple of weeks.

Honestly I totally forgot that Noah Wyle’s character in ER was called John Carter until I did a Google search just now.

There’s No Need To Object To This Phoenix Wright Movie Trailer!

I don’t know if it’s just me but the fact that Miike Takashi has made a Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney movie still hasn’t quite sunk in. Yet here is the video proof that it is real. By god does it look awesome. Now I’m not the sort to pretend that everything Miike touches turns to gold but I think this is some real 16 carat shizzle. It’s also not the first foray into videogame based movie adaptations either. A few years back he made a pretty faithful adaptation of the Yakuza series which I will bemoan the lack of a UK dvd release of for as long as it takes. Anyway, click the jump to view the trailer for Phoenix Wright: The Movie!

OBJECTION!!!! of course.
